Hello my darlings!
As part of the Seasons Readings promo I'm involved in, I'm going to be answering 8 fabulous questions posed by the hilarious Jackie Bouchard. Seriously - every time I think of the Santa question, I can't help but giggle. And away we go...
What is your weirdest holiday memory?
Years ago when I was in college, my sister and I shared an apartment for a year - she was taking a gap year after high school. We had a blast and spent a lot of good quality albeit debaucherous time together (as you do in your late teens/early 20s). Anyway, we went back home for the holidays and when we were unwrapping gifts on Christmas morning, we were shocked to discover we had purchased exactly the same book for one another - the one below. Not only that but we each purchased the exact same dancing hula girl for the other's stocking. It was freaky. We reckoned we were growing the same brain.
What's the most disappointing gift you've ever received?
Well, I feel kinda bad mentioning it (and in retrospect, it was wise of my mom and dad, but...) when I was little, my grandparents allowed our parents to choose what they wanted in regards to gifts for the grandkids. My folks chose the option of checks so my siblings and I could start or add to our savings accounts, but my aunt and uncle opted for presents. It was so frustrating to watch my cousins unwrap gift after gift after gift while we sat there with our sad little envelopes.
Favorite holiday beverage?
Hot cider for sure. And if there's a little kick in it? Even better!
What would you add to a snowman to personalize it?
Ooh, I would definitely want to glam out the snowman. Rhinestone tiara, feather boa, cat glasses (studded with rhinestones, natch) and lots of gaudy jewelry.
What are three things you can't survive the holidays without?
1. My phone - because I never am with my whole family
2. Patience - to deal with the insane crowds in every store everywhere
3. Plenty of schmaltzy movies to get me into the spirit of things
Santa - sexy or let's just be friends?
Sorry Santa, but you're going to have to stay in the friend zone. The jolly thing just doesn't do it for me, I'm afraid.
Favorite holiday movie?
I'm with Francine on this one. I've watched It's a Wonderful Life a zillion times and I'd gladly watch it a zillion more. And I was totally in love with George Bailey too.
It's midnight New Years Eve - you can kiss any celebrity, living or dead. Who's it going to be?
Okay, hate to be a total copycat, but it would have to be George Bailey. Um... I mean James Stewart. Could it be James Stewart as George Bailey? :-)
Happy holidays everyone!
Love,
Libby
Great answers, Libby! :) I've never seen It's a Wonderful Life (I know!) and you ladies are making me want to watch it! I have seen plenty of Molly Ringwald movies, though... so that book sounds awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteI think we need to start a George Bailey fan page on Facebook. Sure, we may be the only two in the club, but don't you think we need a fan page! LOL! Great post! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhere can I get a copy of that book?! I love Molly! Great answers!
ReplyDeleteHee! I'm amused by all this Jimmy Stewart/George Bailey love. A glam snowman (or would that be snow-woman?) would be super fun! That Pretty in Pink book is a must-have!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your answers, Libby! :)
Fantastic answers, Libby! I can just imagine you waiting to open a shiny new gift and getting that sad little envelope. Definitely want to see that snowman!
ReplyDeleteI love that story about you and your sister swapping the same gifts. How awesome to share a bond like that!
ReplyDeleteSo funny about you and your sis giving each other the same gifts. And I can't help but smile every time I picture your sad little faes with your envelopes. Poor you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, ladies! I am totally up for a George Bailey FB fan page. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have to watch that movie IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE. It's so famous I can't believe I've missed it. That's kind of magical, you and your sister choosing the same gift for each other. That kind of shows of how in tune you are. My sisters and I would noever do that I can safely say, not in a million years!
